DESCRIPTION:This Royal Aeronautical Society Gloucester and Cheltenham Branc
 h lecture explores Sir George Dowty's enduring legacy in landing gear engi
 neering. The event features Chris Morgan\, retired Vice President of Airbu
 s Programs at Safran Landing Systems\, who will discuss his 47-year career
  in the Dowty landing gear business before retiring in 2025.\nChris has wr
 itten a book recognising how Sir George Dowty's landing gear legacy has co
 ntinued strongly over the half-century since his passing. The lecture will
  examine that enduring legacy\, highlighting the key people\, programmes a
 nd engineering achievements that have carried it forward. Chris's career s
 pans from joining Dowty Group in 1978 as a student apprentice through to h
 is recent senior leadership role\, including significant work on Airbus ai
 rcraft programmes (A320\, A330/A340\, A350) and Boeing's X-32 JSF concept 
 demonstrator.\nThe hybrid event takes place on 20 October 2026 from 19:00
 –21:00 BST\, with registration required for both in-person and online at
 tendees. The programme includes a welcome at 19:00\, with the lecture comm
 encing at 19:30. Those attending in person must enter via the front entran
 ce and report to reception\, from where they will be escorted to the Resta
 urant Conference Room. Online participation is available via Microsoft Tea
 ms.
