  be launched from for safety purposes. A briefing was held at the start of
  the day that included instructions on where models could be launched from
 . Participants were instructed not to fly any models until they had receiv
 ed the briefing. The weather forecast was favourable for the event.

DESCRIPTION:The Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition is the UK's largest m
 odel engineering showcase\, running from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th Octo
 ber 2026 at Warwickshire Event Centre in Leamington Spa. Opening hours are
  10:00am–4:30pm Thursday to Saturday\, and 10:00am–4:00pm on Sunday.\n
 The exhibition features nearly 40 leading specialist trade suppliers stock
 ing everything model engineers require\, including tools\, machinery\, mat
 erials\, components and expert advice. At its core are hundreds of excepti
 onal models displayed across 32 competition and display classes\, demonstr
 ating outstanding craftsmanship across diverse engineering disciplines.\nM
 ore than 30 clubs and societies participate\, presenting displays and netw
 orking opportunities. Live demonstrations run throughout the event\, inclu
 ding helicopter displays by Blades of Thunder (11:30am and 1:30pm daily)\,
  steam engine parades by Fosse Way Steamers\, gas turbine demonstrations\,
  and showcases from the Society of Model and Experimental Engineers\, the 
 Society of Ornamental Turners\, Stirling Engine Society\, and the UK Micro
 mouse and Robotics Society.\nThe exhibition hosts a series of expert talks
  featuring Neil Wyatt (Model Engineer &amp\; Workshop editor) discussing 3
 D printing for working models\, Roger Froud on CNC scale fittings\, Noel S
 helley on foundrywork\, and others covering topics including brazing princ
 iples\, watchmaking via CNC machining\, and model engineering travels acro
 ss Europe. An awards presentation ceremony takes place on Sunday at 2:00pm

SUMMARY:Silent Flight national competition F3L/F5L
DESCRIPTION:Silent Flight National competition F3L/F5L\, FAI rules. This is
  a rescheduled event following the cancellation of the original BMFA Silen
 t Flight National competition on 31st August 2026 due to high predicted wi
 nd speeds. The competition will be held at Cruckton\, Shrewsbury on either
  Saturday 17th or Sunday 18th October 2026\, with the specific day to be c
 onfirmed closer to the event based on weather conditions. The event will b
 e run to FAI rules and is provisional\, awaiting approval from the Silent 
 Flight Technical Committee as of 7th September 2026. Richard Newsham will 
 serve as the Competition Director. BMFA membership is mandatory for entry.

DESCRIPTION:The BMFA Scale Indoor Nationals is an annual radio-controlled a
 nd free-flight scale model aircraft competition held at Wolverhampton Univ
 ersity Walsall Campus Sports Hall. The 2027 event is provisionally schedul
 ed for 24th and 25th April.\nThe competition features multiple classes acr
 oss Radio Control (RC) and Free Flight (FF) categories. RC classes include
  RCX1 (Scale Radio Control Indoor – Open)\, RCX2 (Flying Only)\, and RCX
 3 (Kit Scale)\, with an Air Race component. Free Flight categories encompa
 ss FFX1 (Open Rubber Powered)\, FFX2 (Open CO2 or Electric Powered)\, FFX3
  (Intermediate)\, FFX4 (Kit Scale)\, FFX5 (Peanut)\, FFX6 (Pistachio)\, an
 d FFX7 (No-Cal Profile)\, alongside Scale Glider and Air Race events.\nThe
  nationals attract competitors from across the UK and beyond\, with result
 s determined according to the BMFA Scale Rule Book. Tied placings are reso
 lved using countback methods based on next-best flight scores. The event i
 s organised by the BMFA Scale Technical Committee and benefits from suppor
 t by judges\, volunteers\, sponsors\, and Wolverhampton University facilit
 ies.\nWolverhampton University has become the traditional home for this co
