DESCRIPTION:The RAeS Aerodynamics Conference 2026\, titled 'The Shape of Th
 ings to Come: The Future of Aerodynamics?'\, explores significant contempo
 rary challenges facing aerodynamic discipline and research. Despite powere
 d flight being well into its second century\, the aerospace sector continu
 es to face challenges in understanding how aircraft interact with air\, wi
 th new technologies\, changing industry priorities and sustainability driv
 es reshaping both practice and teaching.\nThe conference brings together p
 erspectives from academia and industry to examine how advances in technolo
 gy\, engineering and education address future aviation demands. Programme 
 themes include: measurement and modelling of complex flows (turbulent flow
 s\, vortices\, boundary layers\, CFD validation and quantum computing oppo
 rtunities)\; Certification by Analysis developments and aerodynamics' role
  within CbA frameworks\; academic and industrial applications of AI in aer
 odynamics research and development\; graduate attributes and evolving skil
 l requirements for aerodynamicists\; and aerodynamic design implications o
 f alternative and next-generation powertrains including hydrogen\, electri
 c\, hybrid systems\, ultra-high bypass and open-rotor engines.\nThe event 
 features the RAeS Lanchester Named Lecture on Day 1 evening at RAeS Headqu
 arters. This is a hybrid event\, welcoming both in-person and online deleg
 ates. RAeS Student Affiliates and Apprentice Affiliates are eligible for t
 en complimentary places on a first-come\, first-served basis.
