> The South Island Regionals gliding contest, organised with the Omarama Gliding Club and flown under Gliding New Zealand's contest rules, opens with a practice day. Each class goes ahead only if enough pilots enter, which the contest director assesses on the practice day. Pilots can also enter for individual days.
