The short version
Events.Aero sets the cookies it needs to work, and asks before storing anything else. There are two optional things: remembering the events you look at in this browser, to show them again under "Recently viewed", and Google Analytics cookies, which help us see which pages and events people find useful. We never use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Essential cookies
These are needed for the site to work, so they are set without asking:
-
Session cookie (
eventsaero_session): Keeps you signed in while you browse and remembers choices such as your country and an RSVP you are part way through. Lasts 3 days after your last visit. -
Form security token (
XSRF-TOKEN): Protects forms such as RSVPs from cross-site request forgery. Lasts 3 days after your last visit. -
Remember token (
remember_web_…): Set only when you sign in with Volanti Passport, so you stay signed in between visits. Signing out removes it. Lasts 400 days. -
RSVP identity (
rsvp_identity): Set once you have confirmed an RSVP or signed in. It holds your email address, encrypted, so next time you can RSVP in one click without confirming by email again. Choosing "Use a different email" or signing out removes it. Lasts a year. -
Analytics choice (
ea_analytics_consent): Remembers whether you accepted analytics cookies or said no thanks, so we do not ask on every page. Lasts six months, then we ask again. -
Recently viewed choice (
ea_functional_consent): Remembers whether you let us keep the events you look at in this browser, so we do not ask on every page. Lasts six months, then we ask again. - Cloudflare security cookies: Set by Cloudflare, which protects the site and its forms (including the Turnstile bot check) from abuse.
Stored in your browser
Some things are kept in your browser's own storage rather than in cookies. They never leave your device unless you sign in or use them on a page:
- Your radar (
ea-radar): Set only when you choose "Add to radar" without signing in: the events you saved, so you can find them again. When you sign in they move to your account and are removed from the browser. - Recently viewed (
ea-recent): Set only if you accept it on the cookie banner: the last 12 events you looked at, shown again under "Recently viewed". When you are signed in we keep this list with your session instead, and it ends when you sign out.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, such as which events people look at and how many RSVPs are made. Its cookies are set only if you accept them on the cookie banner:
-
_ga: Tells Google Analytics that visits come from the same browser, using a random number rather than anything about you. Lasts two years. -
_ga_76ST0YXQ84: Keeps track of the current visit. Lasts two years.
If you accept, when you RSVP, cancel an RSVP, accept or decline a ticket, sign in or send an event for review, our server tells Google Analytics that it happened, against the same random browser number. We never send your name, email address or the details of the people on your RSVP.
Until you choose, and if you say no thanks, Google Analytics sets no cookies and no identifier for your browser. It can still receive a basic note that a page was viewed, which Google uses to estimate overall numbers. Like any request to Google, that note carries your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store.
We have switched off all of Google's advertising features: nothing is ever used for advertising or personalised ads.
We also use Fathom Analytics, which is cookieless by design and does not follow you across sites. Our own measurement keeps one-way hashed session identifiers only, with no IP addresses.
For what this means for your personal data, see our privacy policy.
Changing your mind
You can change your answers at any time: choose "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page to open the cookie banner again. Saying no to analytics stops Google Analytics and removes its cookies from this site; saying no to recently viewed removes the list from this browser. "Clear recently viewed" under the row removes it too. You can also delete cookies and site data in your browser settings, after which we will ask again.
If this changes
If we add any other cookies that need your agreement, we will ask before setting them and update this page.
