Christmas at Stow Maries

Experience the magic of Christmas at Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome on Saturday 28 November 2026, from 10am to 4pm. Set in the historic surroundings of the original 1916 Airmen's Mess, this festive event combines holiday cheer with wartime heritage.

Over a dozen craft stalls will showcase unique gifts from designer-makers, featuring crochet, glass, metalwork and woodcraft. Watch the blacksmith demonstrate traditional skills in the forge, with Christmas gifts available for purchase.

Entertainment runs throughout the day, featuring the Sabre Saxes, the Chelmsford Male Voice Choir and Braintree Voices women's choir, plus the All Saints Church Handbell Ringers performing festive pieces on bells dating back to 1870.

Families can enjoy tasty food and drink, including Datum Attitude's gift packs of beer and cider. Children can create Christmas crafts to take home, whilst Father Christmas and living historians from the 10th Essex Living History Group, dressed in Great War uniforms, add authenticity and charm to the proceedings.

Entry is £5 for adults and free for under 16s. Please note this ticket covers the Christmas event only and does not include access to aircraft hangars, exhibitions and galleries, though full Museum entry upgrades are available on arrival. Tickets are also available on the door.
