LAA Southern Strut meeting

The LAA Southern Strut is a regular meeting of the Light Aircraft Association's Southern Strut chapter, an organisation enthusiastic about aviation since 1969. The default venue for strut meetings is The Longshore, Brighton Road, Shoreham-by-Sea, BN43 5LD, with meetings held on the first Wednesday of each month starting at 7:30pm.

The Southern Strut is an active community of light aircraft enthusiasts and pilots who organise regular social gatherings and aviation-related events. Members include pilots of various aircraft including homebuilts such as Don Lord's Rans S6-116, Farry Sayyah and Tony Palmer's Czaw Sportscruiser G-WOOO, and classic aircraft like "Dodgy Dave" Skertchly's Piper Cherokee G-ATIS, as well as Tony Palmer's de Havilland Tiger Moth.

Beyond regular monthly meetings, the Strut organises special events and hosts notable speakers. Members participate in fly-ins and maintain an active community noticeboard. The organisation also recognises achievements through trophies including the Nick De Bruyne Trophy and the Beverly White Cup.

Upcoming events include special meetings with guest speakers discussing significant aviation achievements, such as talks by young pilots who have undertaken remarkable cross-country flights. The Strut also organises seasonal social events, including an annual Christmas Dinner gathering.

For those interested in joining or learning more about the Southern Strut's activities, the organisation maintains an active presence and welcomes enthusiasts of all levels. Additional information about aviation events in the UK and worldwide can be found through the Royal Aero Club's comprehensive events listing.
