About this event

Join the Bristol Branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society for an unveiling of an American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Historic Aerospace Sites plaque, followed by a lecture on the history of the Filton site. The AIAA Historic Aerospace Sites programme recognises geographical locations, with or without buildings or facilities, that are associated with significant aerospace achievements, programmes or individuals. The programme aims to inform AIAA members and the public of a site's significance through the installation of a commemorative plaque. The Filton Site and Airfield has been recognised for its crucial role in aircraft design and manufacture since 1910, and this event marks the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate this distinguished achievement. The event will be held at Aerospace Bristol on 22 October 2026 from 17:30 to 20:30 BST. Sir Iain Gray will be the featured speaker. Prior registration is required to attend this in-person event. The Bristol Branch, founded in 1929, is one of the oldest and most active branches of the Royal Aeronautical Society, serving as the local hub for RAeS activities in the south-west of England.
