Weybridge Branch: 71st R. K. Pierson Lecture - Vertical Aerospace - Valo, a new class of electric VTOL aircraft

Vertical Aerospace, headquartered in Bristol, is at the forefront of developing Valo, a new class of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This lecture will explore the journey from aircraft development to certification, highlighting the engineering, safety and regulatory milestones required to achieve commercial operation.

Trevor Woods, Director of Regulatory Affairs at Vertical Aerospace, will examine the opportunities and challenges facing advanced air mobility, and how UK innovation and certification expertise can help establish the UK as a global leader in this rapidly emerging and highly competitive aerospace sector. Trevor brings extensive experience from leadership positions at the UK Civil Aviation Authority, the European Aviation Safety Agency, and BAE Systems.

This is the 71st R.K. Pierson Memorial Lecture, a tradition hosted annually by the Weybridge Branch since 1952. The event is held at Brooklands Museum Clubhouse in Weybridge, Surrey. The private Brooklands Club Members bar opens from 17:45, with food available. All are welcome; RAeS membership is not required. Entry donation is £5.00 (card payment), though this is waived for those under 21 or with a current Student Union card. Certificates of Attendance for CEng or CPD purposes are available on request.
