Brough Branch: ‘CLASSIFIED’ – Beaumanor during the Cold War

'CLASSIFIED' – a personal account of National Service during the Cold War, presented by John William Day. This lecture focuses on Mr Day's intensive training as a High-Speed Intercept Morse Operator at Beaumanor between 1959 and 1961, a secret satellite division of Bletchley Park. Following his specialised training, Mr Day utilised his skills on the island of Cyprus with close links to MI6, MI8 and the CIA. After completing his National Service, he founded his own Printing Company in Hull. Mr Day, now aged 88 and born in Wolverhampton, will recount his experiences during this fascinating period of British espionage history. The event is hosted by the Brough Branch of the Aerospace Society at Cottingham Parks Golf Club.
