A full-day photography experience at Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green Airport centred on the C-41A, one of the rarest surviving members of the Douglas DC-3 family. This wartime command aircraft was one of two special Douglas transports obtained for Major General Henry Harley "Hap" Arnold, featuring executive seating and sleeping accommodation for senior military and government travel.
The event comprises three themed photographic sessions. The first recreates the wartime command and VIP transport role, with period military re-enactors representing senior officers, aircrew and ground personnel. The second session depicts TWA transcontinental airline service from 1941, featuring period airline crew, hostesses and passengers in a historically informed recreation. The final session moves into the 1960s corporate aviation era, presenting the aircraft as an executive transport with appropriately dressed re-enactors.
Participants will enjoy a mixture of clean aircraft images, wider narrative scenes and detailed story-led compositions. The full itinerary runs from 10:00 to 19:30, including arrival and briefing, three photography sessions with breaks incorporated where practical. Amelia's Bar & Restaurant on site is open 9am–5pm. All participants should bring sufficient food and refreshments. Aircraft participation remains subject to serviceability, weather and operational requirements. All equipment levels welcome; knowledge of ISO, shutter speed and aperture assumed.
