Manchester Branch: Certification of Light Aircraft

Join us for an informative session exploring the role of the Light Aircraft Association (LAA) in supporting the building and maintenance of aircraft in the UK. This lecture is ideal for those new to the LAA who wish to understand the range of aircraft that can be built or maintained under its guidance.

From simple plans-built aircraft to modern, Night/IFR-equipped Vans RVs, you'll gain insights into the diverse possibilities available. The speaker will provide an overview of the LAA's activities, including support for homebuilt, vintage, and classic aircraft, as well as pilot coaching and engineering services.

Whether you're an experienced pilot or just starting out, this presentation will offer valuable information about opportunities within the light aircraft community.

Speaker: Lucy Wootton MEng (Hons), DIS, DipHE, MRAeS

Lucy holds an MEng (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering from Loughborough University and has previously worked for Rolls-Royce and as an Aircraft Structural Repair Design Engineer. She has been a BGA Glider Inspector since 2014, holding a Part 66 Engineering Licence for gliders and serving as an ARC Signatory. Lucy is a Flight Instructor for Sailplanes and Chief Flying Instructor of her local gliding club, competing in aerobatics and organising events for young glider pilots as a member of the UK Junior Gliding Development Team. She is currently a BGA Board Member. Since 2016, Lucy has been power flying, holding both a PPL(A) and an NPPL(A), and flies tugs at her gliding club and air displays at the Shuttleworth Collection.
