Stow Maries Remembrance Parade

Join us as we commemorate the Fallen at Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome in the presence of the Lord Lieutenancy of Essex. Now an established fixture in the county Festival of Remembrance, this hugely popular event is free to attend, though donations are welcome.

Ticket holders are invited to arrive from just before 11am, with opportunity to visit exhibitions and enjoy refreshments before the parade begins in the early afternoon. A pause for two minutes' silence will occur at 11:00hrs. Please note that the main parade takes place in the afternoon, with all attendees required to be parked and in place by 13:45hrs.

The Ceremony will be led by The Lord Lieutenancy of Essex—the King's Representative in Essex. The Honour Party includes the Chairs of Essex County Council, Maldon District Council, The House of Commons, and representatives from Colchester Garrison. Uniformed Youth Units representing all arms will be joined by serving members of HM Forces as they pay their respects to those lost in all conflicts.

As the last remaining functioning Great War aerodrome and home to the largest collection of Great War Royal Flying Corps buildings, Stow Maries provides a poignant and appropriate setting for this sensitive service. All visitors and participants not on parade require a ticket (limited availability). Those on parade must be in uniform. We urge car-sharing as parking spaces are limited and non-ticket holders will be turned away.

The site is accessible with assistance dogs welcome. Hot soup and refreshments will be available in the Mess. Free parking is provided for all.
