Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Cosford Branch: The real Allo Allo - my Dad's story

John Pittwood presents the true story of his father's remarkable wartime experience. His father served as Navigator in a Lancaster bomber on a mission to bomb a Panzer barracks in France during World War II. After being shot down, some crew members managed to parachute to safety and were fortunate enough to make contact with the Resistance. With their assistance, the crew was guided over the Pyrenees into Spain and eventually made their way back to the United Kingdom. This lecture offers a personal and intimate account of survival, evasion, and the human spirit during wartime, drawing parallels to the popular television comedy 'Allo 'Allo whilst telling the genuine heroic story of those involved.
